Co-Ed Softball 3-Pitch Rules


1.     Players must be 18 or older.  All players must be rostered before they play.  No new players after 10 weeks.  
Turn roster on first game to the umpire at the field.

2.     You must play in one game to be eligible for play-offs.

3.     Eight players must be present on the field and ready to play at start time.

4.     Game may be played with 6/4, 5/5, 4/4 or 5/3.  You must have 8 players at all times.  Free substitution in field,
everyone bats. Batting order ALWAYS stays the same.

5.      Batting order may start with a woman or a man.  No one of the same sex may bat back to back.  No
designated hitter or pitcher may be used.  All players present must be in line-up unless injured.  Players arriving
late may be added to bottom of line-up.  Two innings must be played by each player or one and a half innings if
players team is Home.

6.      No new innings after 55 mins. or 7 innings, which ever comes first.  Play out inning started.  NO infield may be
taken before game.

7.      NO CHILDREN or PETS in dugout.  One warning then game will be forfeited the second time.  No ALCOHOL in
dugout or on field.  No drinking before the game or during the game at field.  Players will not be allowed to play in
game.

8.      A pitched ball that hits the ground and then is hit by batter is a legal batted ball. Courtesy runners may be
used.  Runner must be the same sex.

9.      Four outfielders must be behind 160 line at time ball is hit.  Team playing less than 10 players must have 3
outfielders behind line.

10.   Half way line between 3rd and home plate.  If you pass line you must go home (tag mat).  Force out at plate.  
Runner tagging plate is OUT.  Home team provides mat.  No sliding at the plate, runner will be out.

11.    Home runs on Field #1 (over fence) is one up rule.  First team to hit a home run must wait for other team to hit
a home run (over fence) before they can hit another.  All other balls over fence are outs.  Field #3 is any fair ball
that is hit or rolls into street is a Home run.

12.    Any protest must be made in writing within 48 hours of game, to League Director.  ASA rules on protest do
apply.  A $25 CASH fee must accompany the protest.  Fee is returned if protest is won. Tell Umpire you are
protesting.

13.    Forfeit fee ($24) must be paid to the Umpire on the field at the time of the forfeit. If no one from the team
shows up the forfeit fee MUST be to the League Directors house within 4 calendar days. Mail it or drop in mail slot
in garage.

14.    Rain outs will be made up in order before playoffs.  Only extenuating circumstances will force games not to
be played.  Managers may call Rec. Center after 4pm to check on rain outs.  Rec. # 858-538-8122.

15.   League Director has full authority to enforce all House Rules, including conduct and player eligibility rules.  
Managers are responsible for having complete set of rules at each game.  Players must have photo ID available at
each game in case of players protest.  See Rule #1.

16.   This is a lower intermediate league.  Bats must not exceed 1.20 bpf, no Miken Velocit-eUltraII (Macload),
Velocit-eUltra (balanced),  Tri-shell, or Triple Wall. The Umpire  has the final say. Subject to change without notice.

Playoffs

Top four teams will be in playoffs.  This will be determined by win, loss record.  Any ties will be broken by; 1) head
to head wins, 2) Runs scored for and against, 3) coin toss.

  • Home team at all games is second team named.
  • Home team brings Mat and Game Ball.

Remember, Umpires watch is OFFICIAL!!!  Be on field before game time to avoid a forfeit. Umpire will call in scores.

**  When a player leaves the game for any reason you must take an out the first time and then the batting order
closes up.  If you have gone through the batting order, new players go at the end of the order.  Batting orders may
not change.
